Our History

Named after it’s founder, Rev. Hezekiah Linthicum, Linthicum Chapel Cemetery began in 1850 when a Methodist Protestant Church was constructed on the property. The property was received from Charles Carroll of Carroll’s Manor and deeded to Rev. Hezekiah Linthicum, Thaddeus S. Clarke, Levi Young, Alfred Scaggs, Richard Iglehart, Jr., Upton Dorsey, William Clark, John S. Watkins and William Welling, trustees. The building was destroyed by fire in 1898, and again in 1899 when a severe storm blew through the area and wiped out new construction. The location of the new chapel was moved to Ten Oaks Rd, and was abandoned when Linden and Linthicum chapels merged in 1959. Linden-Linthicum Church was then moved to it’s present location at Rt. 108 and Linden Linthicum Lane after purchasing land from Mr. Thomas Maynard, merchant.

The Cemetery has since been run by volunteers and was incorporated May 20, 1907.
